Whine list

I called work and left a message saying that it was very probable I won't be in tomorrow, unless I make a miraculous recovery. I still feel like crap. I suppose at some point I'll have to think about going to the doctor if I don't start getting better, but I'm gonna give it one more day, at least. I have no real reason to think it's more than just that same cold that Rob had a week ago - except that he was only really sick for one day, and I still feel terrible after four. I'm coughing and hacking, and I feel totally exhausted, which is the thing that's worrying me a bit. One of my co-workers was diagnosed with mononucleosis before Christmas - but his doctor said that it's actually not very contagious, and unless we'd actually been kissing him we shouldn't worry. Which of course I have not! But honestly, that's kinda what I feel like. And I've been home from Vegas for four days, so that shouldn't be it, and I have literally not been outside since then. I have been too tired. I haven't so much as been out on the patio. All I have done is sleep (quite a lot) and read, and goof around on the computer. I haven't even finished unpacking or thought seriously about taking down the holiday stuff or anything like that. Well, so anyway, we'll see. I felt less tired earlier in the day today, so maybe tomorrow I'll feel a little better too.

So I've been getting some of the pictures up, gradually.
Here's one:

Conservatory at the Bellagio

I was interested in the holiday decor they had up - some of it was very restrained (Caesar's) and some, not so much (the Bellagio, above).

I was making lists in my little notebook, so I'll share... for one thing, how many casinos we gambled at least a little bit in:
TI, Wynn, the Venetian, the Mirage, Paris, Planet Hollywood, MGM Grand, New York-New York, Excalibur, Monte Carlo, Bellagio and Caesar's

We didn't go in...
central Strip: Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Bally's, Harrah's (and some smaller ones)
south Strip: Tropicana, Luxor, Mandalay Bay
north Strip: Stratosphere, Circus Circus

How many places have the fake sky:
Venetian
Forum Shops (I guess they're the original one)
Miracle Mile Shops
and Paris! (how could I forget Paris!)

We wandered into the back of the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, looking for food, and found that last one – an unremodeled section, minarets and fake sky and all. I guess they figured it'd be too much trouble to redo it. And then plus those three, there's that whole fake town section of New York-New York, which is the same idea minus the sky. (I read someplace that there is also a fake Central Park somewhere in NYNY, but we never found that part.)

Also, I had the list of hotel prices that I was working from when I made my reservations (some of these came from hotel websites and some came from Travelocity or Orbitz, as I recall).
(This was for the dates we ended up going, December 25-28. The prices went way way up over this weekend.)
central strip hotels:
TI $109
Paris 130
Caesar's 140
Flamingo (unclear – either $130 or 80, which makes a lot of difference!)
Mirage 139
Venetian 200
Bellagio 259
Wynn 279

other:
MGM Grand 130
Stratosphere 59
Tropicana 90
NYNY 119
Palms 128
Hilton 66
Mandalay 140
Luxor 100
Hard Rock 119

(I've heard since that the Flamingo is having sort of a renaissance and has been remodeled so that it's really nice now, so now I'm sort of curious about which price was right! And it makes me a bit sorry that we didn't get in there to check it out.)
