Dec. 9th, 2004 09:05 amI'm about to leave to go with my mom to her doctor's appointment. Think good thoughts for us. I'll let y'all know how that comes out. Meanwhile, here's something I wrote on Tuesday (I think!) and never posted because the **!&! computer crashed again:
-------------------------------------------
This was a strange day. (See the top paragraph over here for why. I'm not going to repeat everything I say for Holidailies over here.) Plus, after I wrote that, my dad called me - he hasn't done that in ages, I've been theorizing that he's been mad at me. He was waiting for his radiation appointment. (He has prostate cancer, have I said that? My parents are awfully young to be falling apart like this!)
We had a nice talk, but I can't believe that I completely forgot to tell him that we watched "The Alamo" (the newest version) last night. My dad is, like, the World's Biggest Alamo Fanatic. Well, considering that the whole Alamo thing is practically a religion in Texas, there's probably somebody somewhere even worse than he is. But it's nobody that I know, anyway. In any case, I had gotten it into my head that the movie wasn't going to be any good, but I really liked it. We ended up watching it again today with commentary, which was a couple of historians (rather than the director-producer-star sort of commentary) and was actually very interesting if you're into that kind of thing. And Rob and I both are, to some extent. Besides, who doesn't want to know that Davy Crockett was hacked to death? (But not in the movie, so that's not actually a spoiler!) (And even more shockingly, that he didn't really wear his coonskin cap much and he preferred to be called David?)
Oh, I did get a couple of strings of lights up on the Christmas tree tonight. That feels like progress.
