Since I never know what to get my father for Father's Day other than books, and I am tired of getting him books, I think I am going to get him a Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Kit. What the hell, maybe I'll get my father-in-law one too.

I think that's an awesome gift. It says, "I love you and want to keep you safe. Look how neatly and compactly my love and worry for you fit in this nifty bag."

I got a crank flashlight in my stocking last Christmas (Santa wanted me to be able to see in case there is an earthquake while I am at work, and I have to walk the jillion flights down the fire stairs). It is a sporty dark red color, and it was my favorite gift.
