NEWS ANCHOR: I understand that we’re now seeing the creature…
SERGEANT SOMEONE: … using this skyscraper as a scratching post, yes. We’ve sent out for some catnip and a very large ball of yarn, which should be here momentarily. With any luck, we may be able to trade a flea dip for the safety of OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY VISCERAAAARRRRGHHHHASLDKFJASLDFKJ!
(I also like "Rob, dude! Now is not the time to snag a Wii!")
Also, CNN says you might not want to go see Cloverfield if you have severe motion sickness problems. I was a little worried about something like this happening myself, actually, but it didn't bother me at all and I was sitting on the fourth row.
And in non-Cloverfield news:
Wanna know how an air evac works? Well, you're in luck, because Garry Trudeau's been giving a little primer all week. (I have a friend who used to do this stuff, which is why I thought it was particularly interesting.)
I know this makes me a whiner, since I live in South Texas and everything, but it is really fucking cold outside. I think it's because it's very, very damp that it feels so cold. weather.com says it's 47 degrees outside, which isn't exactly all that cold, even by my standards. I mean, I didn't actually go running for my gloves or anything, but I had my big heavy wool coat on and it didn't feel a bit like it was too much. Weather is weird, that's all I can say.
Added: In an ongoing local story... I have no real opinion about the actual fine, but if nothing else, I think it was an extremely bad PR move on the part of BP to whine about how the fine they have to pay for that explosion that killed 15 people a couple of years ago is overly harsh. But then BP has never shown much competence in handling this whole thing, anyway. (And these same people are handling a significant percentage of the world's oil supply. Scary.)
