Deep breath

I am very, very grouchy today. My dad called last night, apparently for the express purpose of making me depressed - he wanted to talk about the amount of water that theoretically might have been in my apartment - and well, he certainly succeeded. I have been getting by by being massively in denial and I was not ready to stop yet, dammit.
I don't actually know any more than I did before. This is not a meltdown caused by any actual information, just speculation.
(But I got in WoW! So I'm happier than I was. It's the small things.)

Date: 2008-09-22 06:00 pm (UTC)1) If there's no water damage, everything is fine, and it's just a matter of time before we come back home.
2) If there's water damage to one degree or another, call the insurers and put in a claim. Dry out and clean up what can be dried and cleaned, and replace what can't with the insurance money.
I really think focusing on concrete steps that are in your control can help with peace of mind.
Hang in there. This, too, shall pass.

Date: 2008-09-23 09:09 pm (UTC)My sister's inlaws and her rent house on Ave S. and 40th plus others in that general area were fine. No flooding and they even have water and power back. The Island itself is in a pretty dreadful state but hopefully your area was one of the higher areas.

Date: 2008-09-24 04:02 am (UTC)I saw the pictures of your house - I guess from what I'm hearing you were fairly lucky but I bet it doesn't feel that way! How was Jamaica Beach generally? All we've seen from up here were the really dramatic things like that picture of the one house left standing in Gilchrist, but I hope it's not quite that bad.
