Go to http://quilts.org/winners.html and scroll down to about the 4th row and look at the Tolkien quilt. (You can click on it to make it larger.)

I managed to lose an entry, which is not especially easy to do - the one and only way I know of to do it nowadays, actually, is to leave the "post an entry" page open when you close Firefox and then don't tell it to restore from saved draft when you open Firefox again. In which case it saves the blank screen over your previous draft, creating a "saved draft" with nothing in it. And I hate to tell you how many times I have done just that. I suppose you could solve that problem by not having Firefox restore your previous pages, but that creates its own problems, at least for me.

I keep thinking that I need to make a regular feature called Rob's Movie Report, because I'm always telling you about the movies Rob went to see and I didn't (usually horror movies, of course). But anyway, Rob has been to see Paranormal Activity twice, which is very unusual for him. So I think that's a pretty high recommendation. He reports that it is actually scary, which - well, I can't even tell you the last time he's said that. He does not scare easily, let's just say.

I am slogging along in coding. I hate to say this but it's mostly very boring - right now we are studying the Outpatient Prospective Payment System, which is how Medicare pays hospitals for outpatient services. I'm hoping it will get more interesting when we get back to the actual coding.

My bright shiny distraction o'the moment is that I have decided to sell some of my jewelry on Etsy between now and Christmas. I have yet to actually even put anything up for sale, but I have been occupied with setting up the store and writing on my previously-abandoned jewelry blog in the hopes that it will help me get some customers, eventually. (Also, it gives me a place to just natter about jewelry endlessly, which I am oddly fond of doing. As some of you may have noticed.) I have been all happy today because I got my skull necklace onto a round-up of Halloween crafts called Terrorific Tuesday, which is bound to be a good thing, even though the skull necklace is not and is not likely to ever be for sale (unless I make another one). But hey, visibility!

The jewelry blog is named Delicious Beads, so I called the Etsy shop Delicious Beads By Mel - which I know is sort of a mouthful but just "Delicious Beads" was taken, although nobody is actually using it as a store. (If they had been I would have tried to think of something else. I don't want an Etsyfight!) I paid actual money for matching banners for the blog and the store - I spent practically a whole night looking at banners and ended up with this orange floral thing which sounds awful but which I really like. It's a bit different but not TOO out there.

So here are the links, in case you want to look:
weblog: http://deliciousbeads.blogspot.com/
The (currently empty) Etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=8227768 (or you can also get there from deliciousbeadsbymel.etsy.com)

Here's a piece of jewelry that has not yet appeared on the blog, although it has been up on Flickr for a few days - it's the pendant that I made in my class that I took last week. I think it came out really nice, and I started working on a second one in with a teardrop-shaped black bead and copper wire, although I haven't gotten far with that yet. Anyway, here's the finished one:

Also (in non-jewelry news), I don't know if Col or I either one have discussed this in public, but we have temporarily abandoned LOTRO and are back to playing WoW. We are trying to finish up the Wrath of the Lich King storyline before our respective paid memberships run out sometime next month. I think we'll make it, although it may be a close thing.

Here's part of an in-game e-mail I sent Col, because this list amuses me:

Results of 20 minutes fishing in the Underbelly in Dalaran: 5 tangled fishing lines, 14 scraps of tattered cloth, 9 pieces of driftwood, 4 weeds, 14 sickly fish, 17 sewer carp (those are actually useful), 3 leaded vials, 5 empty vials, 2 partially eaten fish, 2 empty rum bottles, 1 rock, and 7 magic eaters. (Which I am tempted to eat just to see what will happen.) Oh, and 10+ fishing points, which was really the point of the thing.

Each of those, I should point out, is actually an "item" that you get after fishing for a minute or so. Fishing is very boring, which is why I don't do it very much, although sometimes I can achieve this sort of zen-like state and enjoy it for a while. (Maybe that's what people get out of real-life fishing. If so I have never managed to achieve the proper zen.)

Oh, and what happens when you eat a "magic eater"? Well, I don't know if the same thing happens every time - some things like this in WoW have a pool of effects that occur randomly. But what happened to me was that I became a giant flying cockroach. Only lasted a  minute or two, which was sort of a shame, because I was enjoying it, in an odd way. (Mostly the flying part, not the cockroach part.)
