American Idol

I'm gonna natter about the round of 10, and I'll put it behind a cut to spare those of you who haven't been assimilated yet. (and remember, I was one of the unassimilated until this season, so don't get all superior about that!) (I also promise not to go and post any more spoilers like I did last week without putting it behind a cut. I forgot that people watch on Tivo and things... but there's no spoilers today, anyway.)


(I don't know the names of most of these songs, other than the Train one, you'll have to get that from someplace else if you're interested!)

The first few were very "meh" - Lisa, Kellie & Ace. Lisa needed to go for it, and she did, I guess, but I'm not at all sure it worked. Kellie, bad song choice, but she's gonna be a country star no matter what, so it doesn't matter much. (I'm not saying she's going to win. She might, she might not. Gonna be out there cutting singles either way.) Ace just doesn't do anything for me. I thought he was cute at first, but I like him less every week. And this was a song I like, for a change, but he still wasn't that great.

Taylor - I liked it. It was a little different for him.

Mandisa - I'm with Simon - that wasn't my thing, not at all. Also, that outfit didn't do a thing for her. (And I'm built an awful lot like her, I know these things.) On the other hand, there's probably a lot of people out there who are going to like that a lot more than I did, what with the religion and all.

Chris - Hmmm. I love Chris but this one didn't blow me away like that crazy version of "I Walk the Line" did last week. Good but not great. (Simon thinks he's crossed a line of some sort. Huh?)

Katherine - Well, I liked this, and I am not Katherine's biggest fan. I might even vote for her.

Bucky - He's off-key. On the other hand, this song is a much better choice for him - the best since he did Lynyrd Skynyrd (wow, I just googled and I think I actually spelled that right) way back when.

Paris - hmm, ok, doing Beyonce, this should be interesting. Paris looks completely different every week, that always blows me away even when the song doesn't. And she pulls this one off, I think.

(Boy, they are really rushing through it this week. Just one to go.)

Elliott - it might be desperation, but he's doing a rock song. And you know, he pulls it off pretty well. I believe I'm voting for him, and I'm pretty sure that's a first.

I've voted for practically everybody - except Ace - at one time or another. I have the right wireless where I can text it in, or I'm sure I wouldn't be bothering nearly as often. I decided from the beginning I would vote for whoever I wanted to, as many as I wanted to - this usually seems to end up being 3 or 4 people. Today it was Taylor, Katherine, Paris and Elliott. (In a few weeks 4 is gonna start seeming like too many, isn't it? Some people probably would say it is now, but oh well.)
